A being spotted in the country on numerous occasions and locations it has been revealed that the all-new five-door variant of the immensely popular SUV Mahindra Thar will be soon making its debut. According to Motorbeam, the country’s largest UV manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra will be taking the covers off of the five-door Thar next month in January of 2023. Also, it has been anticipated that Mahindra could unveil this SUV on the 26th of January.
















A test of the impending Thar five-door was spotted driving on country roads just a few weeks ago, in November of this year. Apart from these changes the car will most likely be the same as the outgoing Thar.

In terms of powertrain the all-new five-door Mahindra Thar will get the same petrol and diesel engines a the 3-door model but the power and torque figures will be bumped up a little with a different state of tune. According to rumours, the engines will be tuned similarly to the Mahindra Scorpio. This translates to 172 Bhp-420 Nm for the manual version of the 2.2 diesel engine and 172 Bhp-450 Nm for the automatic version.

While the split daytime running LEDs are the same as before, the lower-positioned headlamps on the front bumper look new with more angular dark chrome surrounds. The front bumper also gets a rectangular radar in the middle, which indicates that the new version of the Hector will come equipped with ADAS functions like its other stablemates, Astor and Gloster.

On the inside, MG has revised the cabin entirely with a new layout, comprising of a more slanted and larger 14-inch portrait-style infotainment system, a new fully-digital instrument console, sleeker AC vents and a broader lower centre console with an aluminium finish. All the key features of the current version, such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, powered front seats, leather upholstery and automatic climate control will be retained in this new version too.


The Hector will also offer remote-controlled features to open or close sunroof, control the climate control system, switch on the ignitioon, vehicle start, door lock, car location, and more. Features like geo-fencing and navigation are also available with the new Hector.


While MG has heavily updated the exterior and interior of the Hector, the new version of the SUV will continue to have the same set of powertrain options on offer. The new heavily-updated MG Hector will be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the options of a 6-speed manual and CVT gearboxes and a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
